Emser Tile has solidified its position in the construction supply chain through an exclusive nationwide partnership with Guru USA. This agreement designates Emser as the sole distributor of Guru Shower Systems and waterproofing products across the United States. The collaboration aims to streamline the procurement process for contractors by integrating Guru’s specialized installation materials with Emser’s existing logistical infrastructure.
Through this deal, Emser Tile will distribute Guru’s innovative waterproof shower system and underlayment solutions. The target audience includes contractors, dealers, kitchen and bath retailers, and builders. These professionals will access the new inventory through Emser’s extensive national network of branches and its four strategically located distribution centers.
The Technology Behind the Systems
At the technical core of the partnership is Guru’s Water-Stop membrane technology. The system relies on a durable four-layer construction designed to withstand the rigors of daily use. It features a wide-format membrane that assists installers in achieving reliable, professional-grade waterproofing with greater efficiency on the job site.

Guru is a family-owned company that was founded more than 25 years ago. Its headquarters are in Valencia, Spain, where the advanced waterproofing systems and shower solutions are both designed and manufactured. Maintaining control over the entire production process allows the company to manage quality standards closely before the products reach the U.S. market.
Logistics and U.S. Operations
Guru USA supports the American market from its base in Carrollton, Texas. This facility serves as a critical hub for the new partnership, housing a 25,000-sq.-ft. distribution center. The location also hosts a dedicated team focused on providing technical support and product education to ensure proper installation and usage of the systems.
This shift reflects a growing demand in the construction sector for supply chain consolidation. By offering both finishing materials and the underlying installation components, distributors can reduce the friction contractors face when managing multiple vendors. It is a practical response to the complexity of modern project management, where sourcing errors can cause significant delays.
The logistics strategy involves utilizing the Carrollton facility to feed Emser’s broader network. Emser is rolling out the Guru Shower Systems through a phased launch across its branch network. This gradual approach is supported by Guru’s customer service, sales, and technical support teams based in Texas.

Strategic Expansion Goals
Jim Parello, president of Emser Tile, highlighted the strategic value of the agreement. “Our partnership with Guru reinforces Emser’s commitment to being a trusted resource at every stage of the tile installation process,” he said. Parello added that combining Guru’s systems with Emser’s distribution makes it easier for professionals to source products from a single partner.
Javier Ruiz, CEO of Guru, pointed to the benefits of vertical integration. “Everything we sell we manufacture ourselves, in our own plant in Spain — that control is why we can stand behind a better and complete system and not just a single product,” Ruiz stated. He noted that Emser’s industry relationships make them an ideal partner to reach professionals nationwide.
The partnership marks a significant step in Emser’s continued expansion beyond tile and natural stone. The company is positioning itself to provide customers with complete installation solutions. This support covers every stage of a project lifecycle, moving from the initial specification and installation phases through to long-term performance.
