Smart‑Home Brand Bond Merges with Somfy Group

Somfy Group announced that Olibra LLC, the owner of the Bond brand, has become part of the French‑based automation company, expanding Somfy’s presence in the North American smart‑home market.

Acquisition details and statements from leadership

Bond, founded in 2016 and based in New Jersey, provides a brand‑agnostic connectivity platform that links interior and exterior shades, ceiling fans, fireplaces and outdoor lighting to smart‑home systems. The platform’s bridges, mobile app and growing list of accessories have positioned it as a leader in plug‑and‑play commissioning, especially for outdoor devices.

“This milestone reinforces Somfy’s long‑term commitment to the North American market and our vision for the future of the connected home,” said Sébastien Picot, CEO of Somfy Group. “By bringing together Somfy’s decades of leadership in motorization and automation with Bond’s expertise in connectivity, we’re accelerating a shared ambition — making smart shading effortless, interoperable and accessible everywhere.”

Bond will continue to operate independently, maintaining its existing leadership and team. The acquisition is intended to give Bond access to Somfy’s scale and resources while preserving its ability to serve business partners directly.

Strategic fit and market implications

Somfy’s five decades of experience in motorized shading solutions combine with Bond’s connectivity know‑how, creating a partnership that could simplify smart‑shading installations for dealers and end users. Zohar Shinar, CEO of Olibra, said, “Somfy’s global reach, deep industry expertise and commitment to openness will allow us to accelerate and scale innovation while expanding the value we deliver to customers and partners.”

The open Bond platform offers fabricators and dealers a single system for managing a wide range of motorized products, regardless of brand or technology. With Somfy’s support, Bond plans to enhance the connected‑home experience and add value for end users, dealers and fabricators.

“We believe deeply in the future of the connected home in North America and in making smart shading solutions every homeowner can adopt with confidence,” said Yilmaz Ozturan, president and CEO of Somfy Systems Inc. “Bond’s reputation for simplicity, reliability and interoperability gives our clients and partners a more scalable way to grow the smart shading category.”

The combined entity hopes to make smart shading “simpler today and ready for tomorrow.”

The acquisition also reflects Somfy’s belief in the long‑term potential of the smart shading market.

For now, Bond’s partners can expect continuity, with the added benefit of Somfy’s resources to fund platform enhancements and expand the roadmap.
