Celebrity interior designer Lisa Hensby has launched a new podcast called Heart & Home>, offering an honest conversation about what it really takes to get a home right. The series debuts on Friday, October 9 and features Sally Dynevor, famous for her role in Coronation Street, as its first guest. Unlike traditional design programs, the podcast combines practical guidance with open conversations about financial limits, project timelines, and the compromises that often arise during renovations.
In the opening episode, Dynevor shares how she and her husband, Tim, purchased a home without seeing it in person. Hensby then addresses two distinct spaces for their children: a daughter’s room that lacked adequate storage and a son’s room requiring a more dynamic color scheme. The designer implemented tailored storage solutions and a refreshed color palette, merging contemporary style with functional requirements. Dynevor highlighted the initial storage deficiencies in her daughter’s wardrobe area, while her son’s space needed a more engaging visual update.
The podcast distinguishes itself by addressing real-life limitations rather than idealized outcomes. Hensby stresses that listeners will gain practical strategies applicable to any budget. “It’s the podcast version of the promise I make to every client: Let me put a little love into your home,” she says. The series also explores common errors, such as poorly executed design choices, and provides strategies to prevent expensive mistakes.
BBC Radio 2 presenter Owain Wyn Evans described it as “I love a good nosy around people’s homes and I’m going behind the curtain of what we see on social media!” Feng Shui specialist Cliff Tan notes that “Moving furniture around can actually change your life, as long as you understand how and why.”
This perspective aligns with Ayisha Onuorah, a designer who argues that accessibility and beautiful design can go hand in hand, even small details can be transformative.
The five-part series will release weekly on Fridays, with episodes featuring guests such as Anya Lawrence from Hollyoaks and Lucy-Jo Hudson, known for her roles in Coronation Street and Wild at Heart. The podcast is accessible on Spotify and YouTube, with production occurring at Nova Studios.
